Если кого-то спросить, где он был и что видел в Австралии, то почти всякий начнёт перечислять что-то типа Сидней, Мельбурн, Брисбен и т.д. Я никак не могу понять, зачем нужно ехать из Европы с её интереснейшими, уютными городами, полными памятников архитектуры, в Австралию, чтобы здесь проводить всё время в городах. Да, в них довольно комфортно жить и много разных людей можно встретить. Но что в них смотреть – мне решительно непонятно. В стране есть множество красивейших природных мест, но мало иностранцев по ним ездит. Подавляющее большинство людей в отдалённых национальных парках – это пенсионеры, не спеша ездящие вокруг страны со своими трейлерами, в которых живут.
If you ask someone where they’ve been and what they’ve seen in Australia then almost everyone will tell you something like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and so on. I really can’t understand why one need to leave Europe, with its interesting cozy towns full of great architecture, to Australia to spend all of the time in cities. Yes, the cities are quite comfortable to live and there are many people to meet. But what to see there – I can’t understand. Australia has so many of beautiful natural places, but few foreigners visit them. The vast majority of travellers in remote national parks are retired people slowly moving around the country with their caravans in which they live.

Погода сегодня хорошая, прошёл дождик и было не очень жарко. Я немножко погулял возле дома до Casuarina Coastal Reserve. Тут несколько фотографий.
A walk
The weather was good today, it rained and was not very hot. I made a little walk near my home to Casuarina Coastal Reserve. Here are some photos.

This probably is the most scenic walk. It goes along ponds with blossoming nymphaeas and ends at a waterfall which almost doesn’t have water in dry season though.

Это, наверно, самая красивая тропа. Проходит вдоль прудов с цветущими кувшинками и выходит к водопаду, в котором, правда, в сухой сезон воды почти нет.

Katherine River Gorge is located in Nitmiluk National Park that is in 28 km from the town of Katherine. Besides the longest 66 km trek there are several walks to the river, the farther the harder and more interesting. I’ll write about five of them that I walked. Now there are only some photos form the common part of the routes.

Ущелье реки Катрин находится в национальном парке Нитмилук, что в 28 км от города Катрин. Кроме самого длинного большого 66-километрового трека в парке несколько троп, идущих к реке, чем дальше, тем сложнее и интереснее. Будут посты о каждой из пяти, что я ходил. Сейчас только несколько фотографий с общей части маршрутов.

В продолжение темы маленький эпизод из жизни аборигенов. Снято, судя по всему, в Катрин, где их очень много. Cнимал не я.
Wild people - 2
Continuing about aboriginals here is a small episode of their life. I guess it's shot in Kathrine where there are many of them, not by me.

Поссумов здесь много. Активны они ночью, поэтому их не часто видно без фонарика, но очень хорошо слышно, как они громко шуршат в деревьях и листьях и бегают по крыше. Вчера я с одним решил познакомиться поближе, поссум не возражал.
Possum
There are many possums over here. They are active at night, so are not seen too much without torch, but their loud crackling in the trees and leaves and running on the roof are heard very well. Yesterday I tried to know one of them better, the possum didn’t mind.
